Hello Koalas Wins Gold at NSW Tourism Awards

Super proud of Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail (Port Macquarie) winning Gold for Cultural Tourism last night at the @NSWTourismAwards. A wonderful recognition for project director Margret Meagher, our amazing artists, sponsors and all the team behind the trail.

Unfortunately, Margret couldn’t attend the awards due to the fire threat to her home in Greater Port Macquarie. The devastation to lives and homes on the Mid-North Coast has been shattering, and the effect on our already endangered Koala population heartbreaking. Since inception in 2014, Hello Koalas has promoted cultural tourism and environmental sustainability, including care and conservation of our iconic koalas, while promoting Greater Port Macquarie as a destination.

The fire crisis adds urgency to that work. We encourage people to donate to the Koala Hospital Port Macquarie. https://lnkd.in/fpYkb89 The hospital is an animal welfare, scientific research and education facility and has been on the front line of rescuing injured koalas. hashtag#NSWTA19 hashtag#hellokoalas hashtag#koalahospital
