Artist Biography

Lisa Burrell is a married mum with two teenage boys living on the NSW Mid North Coast in Coffs Harbour since 2001.

Lisa works part time in a wonderful childcare centre and spends much of her time doing murals on the walls and windows, drawing, painting and making things with the children.
Away from work her recent focus is ceramic art and she loves to make carved and highly detailed decorative work, both functional and sculptural.

Lisa loves quiet and calm, joy and enthusiasm, colours and creatures. She is inspired by sunshine and the little things in life, the exuberance of children and our amazing natural world.

Lisa has entered her paintings in a few shows and was lucky enough to have been awarded 1st prize for drawing in the Bellingen Agricultural show for 2006 and also 2007. For Lisa this was a wonderful boost to her confidence as an artist and she continues to enjoy learning and practising to improve.

Lisa most recent commission is Buzzy Bee, the Native Bee Koala, currently on Canberra for World Bee Day, at the Swedish Embassy, on 23 May 2019. Buzzy Bee will return to Port Macquarie for the Hello Koalas Festival, 6 - 9 June and will be included in the Hello Koalas Festival Treasure Hunt.
